Aquatic Center

The following is a list of the different class levels and their descriptions.
See the current class schedule or come by to pick up a complete pool schedule.

  • AQUA 1 - This low level, go at your own pace class is designed for men and women with joint limitations such as arthritis, osteoporosis, and degenerative joint disease. This gentle one-hour class will stretch and strengthen your entire body while focusing on balance and increasing endurance.
  • AQUA 2 - is designed for anyone interested in low-impact water exercise. Moderate aerobics and strength training are done in both shallow and deep water. This class is great for those with fibromyalgia or MS.
  • AQUA 3 - This one-hour class offers a variety of challenges including strength training, flexibility, cardiovascular and balance exercises using water dumbbells, noodles, gloves, and flotation belts. It includes both deep and shallow water workouts.
  • AQUA 4 - This class is a 45 minute high-intensity aerobics class focusing on cardiovascular and strength endurance using a variety of equipment such as gloves, dumbbells, and noodles in shallow water with stretching at the end. This class is great for anyone looking for a way to burn calories and tone up without the risk of injury to joints.
  • OPEN SWIM - Pool is available for members to do water exercises and use pool equipment.

Swim Lessions

We offer swim lessons at various times throughout the year in our heated indoor pool. The classes are 6 weeks and are $60. There is a $35 membership fee for those who are not fitness members. Our classes are taught in accordance with the guidelines for the American Red Cross “Learn To Swim” program.

Parent/Child A

This class is designed for children ages 6 months-2 years. Children are in the pool with a parent or caregiver and through songs and games build comfort and security in the water. Children work on floating on the front and back, basic stroke orientation, entering and exiting the pool safely, and fully submerging in the water.

Parent/Child B

This class is designed for children ages 2-4years of age. Children are in the pool with a parent or caregiver and through songs and games build comfort and security in the water. Children work on floating on the front and back, basic stroke orientation, entering and exiting the pool safely, jumping in from the side, front and back glides, and fully submerging in the water.

Super Swimmers

This class is designed for young children (ages 3-5) who are SWIMMING without assistance. We will work on stroke development, swimming with our faces in the water, glides, floating, and beginning breathing techniques.

Level 1-Introduction to Water Skills

This class is designed to be a child’s first independent experience in the water. Most of the children begin this class at around age 5, but ages may vary, due to ability level. Children work on floating in the water on front and back (with support), beginning stoke development on front and back (with support), gliding on front and back, bobbing in the water, submerging fully, and jumping in the pool.

Level 2-Fundamental Aquatic Skills

This class is designed for a child who is comfortable in the water but not yet swimming (or not yet swimming 15 yards on the front and the back). We will work on stroke development, glides, breathing techniques (swimming with our faces in the water), floating, bobbing, and jumping in the pool.

Level 3-Stoke Development

Children beginning this class should be able to swim 15 yards on their front (with their face in the water) and 15 yards on their back. This class will begin to more deeply explore the strokes and also introduce the Butterfly Stoke and Diving from kneeling or sitting.

Level 4-Stoke Improvement

Children beginning this class need to be placed in it by the instructor. This class will continue to work on stroke skills, beginning diving, and open turns will be introduced.

Level 5-Stoke Refinement

Children beginning this class need to be placed in it by the instructor. This class will work on stroke refining. Flip Turns will be introduced.

Level 6-Swimming Skill Proficiency

Children need to be placed into this class by the instructor. At level 6, students may choose between four different skill courses-*Lifeguard *Water Safety

*Fitness Swimmer *Diving (Due to the depth of the pool...diving will not be offered at SEFR)

Adults

We offer swimming lessons for adult in all levels. If you want to become comfortable in the water or improve your strokes, we can help you!
